CHRHF Honoured to Have Northern Dancer Print Selected as Gift to Lt. Gov. David Onley

Photo with Northern Dancer PrintWhen Lt. Gov. David Onley attended the 155th running of the Queen’s Plate on Sunday, July 6th, he not only was able to take in the excitement of the day, but he left the proud owner of a framed artist proof of Northern Dancer.  The Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame commissioned head study by Ontario artist Debbie Goldring was selected by Woodbine Entertainment Group as a special gift for the Lieutenant Governor in what was one of his final appearances in his official capacity as Vice Regal.

The beautiful rendering of Northern Dancer was created in 2011 for the Canadian Horse Racing  Hall of Fame to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his birth.  As 2014 is the 50th Anniversary of the bay colt’s racing feats in both Canada and the US, the choice of the print as a gift to Lt. Gov. Onley is a most fitting one.

Interestingly, the winner of the 155th Queen’s Plate, Lexie Lou, is the great grand-daughter of Northern Dancer, making the gift even more appropriate.
