January 25, 2013 marks the day that jockey Russell Baze is scheduled to leave the starting gate for the 50,000th time in his career.  Barring any scratches in his scheduled mounts, this unprecidented milestone will be reached  in the 6th race at Golden Gate Fields in San Francisco.  Russell’s career stats are extremely impressive with a 24% career win percentage and over half his mounts (56%) “hitting the board”.  The only other riders to reach the 50%+ mark are Pat Day and Chris McCarron.
